Altar Guild
The role of the Altar Guild is to care for the physical space of the Chapel, so that it may be a contemplative space for all who enter it at any time, and to support the daily and weekly worship that takes place there. This care is largely practical, involving tasks such as polishing metal objects used in worship (bells, candle sticks, processional cross, chalices, etc.), washing altar linens, procuring flowers for the altar, ensuring that the clergy vestments are cleaned regularly and in good repair, and tidying the back of the chapel. The hope is that these activities help make the Chapel a place where people find themselves able to pray, and also that the doing of them itself be occasion for prayer.
In term, the Altar Guild meets for an hour or so on Sundays at 12.30pm in the chapel, following the morning service to do polishing and other regular tasks. Anyone may drop by to join in!
