The University Service is a Choral Eucharist service for the whole College – an ancient theurgic ritual taken up in a poetic 16th-century liturgy that here embraces the rediscovery of the transcendent and sacred in the radically secular contemporary world. It is sung by the renowned Chapel Choir, directed by Paul Halley. Our hope for the year is that this Thursday evening University service will be a gathering-place (among many) for the whole college – students, faculty, and staff from all corners of the campus. All are welcome, of all faiths and none.
This week, the service will be followed by a reception in the President’s Lodge.
Light the candles wherever you can, you who have them. They are a real symbol of what must happen … if we want to live.
