A Quiet Day with the Stories of George MacDonald

Led by Elizabeth Curry King

Saturday, March 30

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m

George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish poet, novelist and preacher, perhaps best known for his 'fairy tales', written not so much for children as for the 'childlike'. The quiet day addresses will consider his work in relation to 'acedia' and its remedies through images of pilgrimage and rebirth. Recommended reading in preparation is the beautiful short story, "The Golden Key" (1867), which may be found online at http://www.george-macdonald.com/etexts/the_golden_key.html
